About

Katie Toombs was born in Beaufort, South Carolina and moved to Memphis at an early age. She went to school in Germantown and later graduated from The University of Memphis with a degree in Home Furnishings. It’s safe to say that art and design have always been a part of who she is.

Katie’s approach to creating art is very loose and relaxed. She draws her inspiration from her surroundings and memories of growing up in the south. She is known for her calming color palette and layers of paint applied with a palette knife. Her pieces compliment any style and offer comfort to those who collect them.

Katie currently resides just outside of Collierville, Tennessee with her husband and their 4 children. She enjoys the country setting out past the city limits where deer sightings are a regular thing. When she’s not painting you can find her cheering on her kids at their sporting events, frequenting coffee shops or playing with her two Goldendoodles, Toby and Sargeant.

FAQs

Q: How long have you been painting?

A: I started painting when I was pregnant with my 3rd child in 2009. I had taken art in high school but never learned to paint… so I taught myself! It has been a journey of self discovery for sure!

Q: What inspires you?

A: If you look closely at the things around you, you can see inspiration everywhere! Stop and smell the roses. You just might be inspired to paint them!

Q: Where does your creativity come from?

A: I’ve had the desire to play, draw and use my imagination from an early age. My grandmother's cousin was Pup McCarty (of McCarty’s Pottery) so I love to think that the desire to create flows through my veins! I think pottery is going to be my next hobby!

Q: How can I purchase your art?
